Paint colour

The colour scheme was inspired by a British Railways 109 I saw on the London To Brighton run, it's known in trainspotting circles as “Blood and Custard”:

It looks like the paint codes are:

  • BS381c No. 540 for the “blood” (“Crimson lake”)
    • Nearest RAL colour might be RAL 3002
  • ??? for the “Custard” (“Cream”)
    • “The Cream had a British Railways paint code but does not appear to have had a British Standard colour reference.”
    • Nearest RAL colour might be RAL 9001
