Alternator Diodes

LR put a diode in the alternator warning light feed to prevent back-feeding which can lead to the vehicle “running on” when there's not enough load on the ignition side circuit to pull the wire down to 0v when you turn the key off.

However, if one or more of the diodes in your alternator fails, normally it would light the light when you turn the ignition off - but with a diode in-line this wouldn't happen and you'd only notice once all the diodes failed and your car caught fire.
